Digital Cinema Society’s own James Mathers was good enough to visit and share some of his test footage of the Panasonic Varicam LT and EVA1 to demonstrate how well they cut together.
The VariCam LT is a professional compact 4K cinema camera that contains a Super 35mm sensor that can capture 14+ stops of latitude and offers Dual Native 800/5000 ISOs. The 5.7K AU-EVA1 is tailor-made for handheld shooting, but also well suited for documentaries, events, commercials, and music videos.
Mathers shot his own comparison video of the EVA1 and the VariCam LT: “In this very short 4K clip, James Mathers intercuts the Panasonic EVA1 with the VariCam LT in a practical location using only available light. The same Zeiss compact primes were use on each camera, and when you see one camera in the shot, you can be sure the other was busy shooting it. Both were recorded in Vlog and the only color correction applied was the standard Panasonic Rec 709 LUT. There is also a shot featuring the VariCam V35 shot at 120fps tagged on to the end for comparison.”
The Digital Cinema Society is a nonprofit educational cooperative dedicated to the industry’s informed integration of new technology. The Society’s purpose is to objectively examine all media, solutions, services, and technologies without favoring any one brand, service, or format over another.
