This year at NAB, expect to see a plethora of new support gear for the Blackmagic Pocket Camera. For me, the strength of this camera is the image quality in relation to its size. You can literally take it anywhere discreetly and without the need of a pack mule to carry it and its accoutrements. With its tiny size being its biggest asset, why would I want to attach a ton of gear to it? However, in the Case of the Lockport Pocket, I’m inclined to think otherwise. The LockPort Pocket is a new product developed to help avoid damaging your Blackmagic Pocket Camera’s micro HDMI camera port. It protects the fragile output of the camera from damage with a rock solid universal clamp and a smart micro to full-size HDMI adapter, and it does this without increasing the camera’s footprint.
The LockPort Pocket plate is designed to fit every head, baseplate, sliding plate, support out there. The LockPort Pocket safely secures a 90° REAR micro to full-size HDMI adapter, protecting the BMPCC from the possibility of breaking off the Micro-HDMI connector in the camera’s port.
The HDMI adapter has gold plated contacts and the full-size female output allows you to use stronger standard HDMI cables which are common and less expensive than Micro-HDMI cables.
The LockPort Pocket will ship at the end of April. For more information, go to their website at LockCircle.com or check it out for yourself at the LockCircle booth at NAB 2014 – Booth C8742
