Adobe's Big Presence At SXSW: Over 120 Films Utilizing Adobe Apps, Panels On Creativity & More

Adobe’s presence at this year’s SXSW Film Festival will be noticeable, with 60 films using Premiere Pro to cut their footage, and another 60+ using Adobe apps to create their vision.

Adobe notes that this year’s number of films cut with Premiere Pro is over double that of 2014, with After Effects being the other popular tool with “80 filmmakers utilized Adobe’s industry leading visual effects tool.”
Adobe continues to grow in use, most likely due to their great accessibility with their Adobe Creative Cloud service. The tools have long been a force to be reckoned with, but many were scared off by the hefty price commitment. Now, with a reasonably priced subscription, anyone from student to studio can utilize some of the best video editing apps available.
Some of the films at SXSW using Adobe apps that Adobe makes note of sound awesome as well:

GTFO, a film that explores the video game industry and how it is riddled with discrimination and misogyny, A Wonderful Cloud, a romantic comedy about a couple playing out their real-world baggage in front of the camera, Twinsters, a story about twins put up for adoption and find each other with the help of a YouTube video, For Grace, a film about Curtis Duffy, one of the country’s most renowned chefs, who is building his dream restaurant at the worst moment of his personal life, Peace Officer, a feature documentary about the increasingly militarized state of American police as told through the story of William “Dub” Lawrence, a former sheriff who established and trained his rural state’s first SWAT team only to see that same unit kill his son-in-law in a controversial standoff 30 years later and Uncle John, a film about a small town bully turned born again Christian who goes missing and John, a loved member of the community, who is not a suspect, but has everything to do with it.

Adobe is also hosting their own sessions “geared toward creatives in video, design, graphics and Web development” in their Creative Camp. They have 2 cideo specific session: “Story Structure Secrets” and “Make Social Media POP! With Video”. The first will teach you how to “hook the viewer with a compelling opening, structure questions that engage the audience, and identify when it’s time to move from one scene to another” and more, all applied to any filmmaking venture. The second will teach you “how to create your video content and give it a professional look and sound on your iPhone or iPad with Adobe Premiere Clip, and then share it via social media channels for maximum reach.”
In addition to those, Adobe will also host two speaking events: “The Rise of the Creative Economy” and “The Innovation Revolution: Thinking Inside the Box”. The first sees Adobe’s Scott Belsky (VP of Mobile Products & Community, Co-founder of Behance) lead a discussion on creative careers’ role in today’s economy, the challenges facing pro creatives and how to navigate the waters. The second chronicles Adobe’s Kickbox experiment, where they “funded every single new product idea from any employee, no questions asked”. Adobe’s Chief Strategist and VP of Creativity Mark Randall will talk about the reasoning behind the project, and how “trust can transform good people into great innovators.”
The SXSW Film Festival is from March 13 – 21 in Austin, Texas. You can find out more about Adobe’s involvement and events in the press release below, and more about SXSW at SXSW.com
