Matthews Studio Equipment just announced an upgrade to their popular MINIVATOR, the MINIVATOR II, which will be a focal point of their booth come NAB 2014 in April.
The MINIVATOR II is a heavy duty light stand that allows you to increase its height to a max of 142″ high, all while holding up to 80 pounds. As many can attest, lighting is key, especially with DSLRs, and the folks at Matthews were thinking about this very problem when creating the Minivator II:
“The idea of the new fast digital cameras needing less light or no lights at all is a misnomer,” says Robert Kulesh, V.P. Sales and Marketing for Matthews Studio Equipment. “The digital world gives the shooter a much more creative – and bigger pallet, often requiring more and bigger lights to cover the breadth of the shot”.
However at that height, you wouldn’t be crazy if you were a little worried about sending your camera to such heights. Matthews has made a name for itself in its very long time in the industry for their sturdy designs. For example, we just talked about the MSE Master Mount not long ago. It lets you strap a camera pretty much anywhere on your car safely and securely for some fantastically smooth shots. We’ve tested it out ourselves (review coming soon) and we have no doubts in the quality and safety Matthews products bring.
You can find out more about the MINIVATOR II on Matthews’ website at www.msegrip.com, as well as from the press release below. Be sure to also visit them this NAB 2014, April 5-10, in booth #C5437.
MSE Introduces MINIVATOR II at NAB 2014
Burbank, CA. Matthews Studio Equipment announces that their new MINIVATOR II will take center stage in Las Vegas at NAB 2014. The MINIVATOR II is the long-awaited stronger and taller version of the industry standard MINIVATOR stand, first introduced over 10 years ago.
“The idea of the new fast digital cameras needing less light or no lights at all is a misnomer,” says Robert Kulesh, V.P. Sales and Marketing for Matthews Studio Equipment. “The digital world gives the shooter a much more creative – and bigger pallet, often requiring more and bigger lights to cover the breadth of the shot.
“MINIVATOR II is the perfect complement for these and other shots,” he adds. “We’ve beefed up the payload of the MINIVATOR II from 60 to 80 pounds and added to the maximum height without sacrificing strength, safety or stability.”
MSE’s MINIVATOR II accessory package also includes a Rocky Mountain leg and optional sturdy 4” casters to make this stronger and safer stand ideal for location work.
MINIVATOR II features a double cable mechanism that will keep both risers traveling at equal proportions with each turn (38 will take the fixture to the full height) of the handle, allowing for firm and steady movement of any lighting fixture attached. The addition of “combo” dual- purpose top castings allows for use of both Junior pin and Baby receiver fixtures.
MINIVATOR II reaches a maximum height of 142” (361cm), a load height of 55” (140cm), with a maximum load of 80 lbs (36.4Kg), weights 48 lbs (21.8Kg) and covers a footprint of 58” (150cm).
