New Pentax K-30 Offering Stiff Competition For Canon's T4i?

The new Pentax K-30 DSLR has been released.  It’s rugged body and price range make it comparable to Canon’s T4i…..or does it?

Gizmodo recently did a hands on review of the weatherproof K-30 and they found some interesting results.  Overall, they thought that the camera was very easy to operate and had very navigable menus.  According to Gizmodo, the camera’s 16.3 megapixel APS-C sensor took beautiful still images.  However, there was one major downfall….the video.  Apparently, the K-30’s video mode is less than great.  When using stabilization, the image distorts quite a bit.  If you don’t use image stabilization, the video is unusable.

The Pentax K-30, good for stills, not great for video.  For full review and a sample of video shot with camera, check out GIZMODO
