Coming next Wednesday, August 26th, Blackmagic Design has released the itinerary for their Blackmagic Day LA event. Panels will include an introduction to DaVinci Resolve 12, panels from filmmakers such as ‘ The Blair Witch Project’s Dan Myrick and ‘Spy’s Jeremy Nelson and more.

10:15 Dan Myrick: Blair Witch Creator’s film shot, graded and edited with Blackmagic
Dan Myrick will discuss his use of Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Cameras and Blackmagic Cinema Camera 2.5s on his newest film, ³Under The Bed.² Myrick will also discuss how he used DaVinci Resolve Studio to grade and edit the film, going from shooting on Blackmagic cameras right into post.
11:15– Introducing DaVinci Resolve 12: Hollywood’s Newest Professional Editor

Get an overview of Fusion 7, Blackmagic Design¹s advanced software for effects and motion graphics. With Rony Sousson of Blackmagic Design conducting a tour of the software¹s capabilities, you¹ll see features that include advanced infinite 3D workspace, node-based workflow, professional keying, tracking, image retouching and paint, titles animation, 3D model import and rendering, and 3D particle effects.
1:15 Blackmagic Camera Experiences & Insights
Marco Solorio (filmmaker, author, and owner of OneRiver Media) will discuss his exciting findings with the new Blackmagic4.6K sensor and the impact it will bring to the filmmaking community as a whole. Marco will also share his experiences using various Blackmagic cameras for his work on feature film production and how that can translate to all forms of production.
2:15 Guillaume Aubuchon, DigitalFilm Tree – Resolve: Using DaVinci Resolve on this year’s biggest hit TV shows
Guillaume Aubuchon, the CTO & Managing Partner of LA¹s DigitalFilm Tree post production house, will talk about how DigitalFilm tree is using Resolve for grading on shows such as NCIS: Los Angeles and Cougar Town. As part of the discussion, Guillaume will walk through how Resolve is the key part of his company¹s new remote dailies production on the hit show Mistresses.
3:15 Jeremy Nelson, Flash Film Works- Fusion: Using Fusion Studio on this summer’s blockbuster hit ‘Spy’
Flash Film Works¹ compositing supervisor Jeremy Nelson will discuss how they used Fusion Studio for all of the compositing work on the Melissa McCarthy hit, ³Spy.” This includes using Fusion for perfecting car chase scenes, helicopter stunts and intricate fight scenes. Nelson will discuss how Fusion was also used for compositing on the Samuel L. Jackson summer film ³Barely Lethal.²
4:15 Grading in DaVinci Resolve 12: The World’s Most Advanced Color Corrector
DaVinci Resolve is used to grade more Hollywood feature films, episodic television shows, and commercials than any other system. Jason Druss of Blackmagic Design will be giving an in depth demonstration of the color correction and creative grading tools in DaVinci Resolve 12.
