Last Fall, Blackmagic Design announced it’s acquisition of Fusion effects software. Fusion. If you’re not familiar, Fusion is a composting application for visual effects artists, broadcast and motion graphic designers and 3D animators.
It boasts over 25 years of development and has been used on over 1000 major Hollywood blockbuster feature films.
Fusion has been used on feature films like Thor, The Amazing Spiderman 2, and The Hunger Games, as well as hit television shows like Orphan Black, Breaking Bad, Grimm, Adventure Time, Downton Abbey and the Emmy award winning Battlestar Galactica.
GPU Acceleration
When you think of GPU acceleration, most people think of another post production application, but the truth is Fusion leverages the power of your GPU too. With its GPU acceleration, you get instant feedback while you work so you can see exactly what you’re doing. Whether you’re working alone or with a client, Fusion gives you the real time control you need so you can spend more time being creative and less time waiting.
Since acquiring Fusion, Blackmagic Design has pushed the development of the node based app to new heights, and they’re showing some of what it can do in a new video they released this week. The latest improvements include added support for external Python scripting. The results speak for themselves.
Try it for free
The free version of Fusion 7 features a large visual effect and motion graphic toolset, perfect for personal or commercial work. It features an infinite 3D workspace and an easy to use node based workflow, for building combined effects.
