Get the Full Spectrum of Color With the New LiteGear LiteMat Spectrum

Lighting options were strong at Cine Gear 2018, with the upcoming LiteGear LiteMat Spectrum grabbing our attention for its flat design, full spectrum control and amazing post-production compatibility.

An upcoming addition to their LiteMat series, the LiteMat Spectrum has a number of improvements, particularly in regards to camera color compatibility and post-production compliance. From LiteGear:

LiteMat Spectrum – The project began with a simple goal: to simplify the complexity of cinematic color mixing. What has emerged from LiteGear Labs was patent-pending technology that has been described as a revolution in cinema lighting. Named LiteMat Spectrum, it is the most camera-compliant LED light fixture available. It can accurately reproduce any shade of white that the camera considers “correct.” That can be anywhere between 2,000K and 11,000K with +/- 8 points of tint correction. LiteMat Spectrum can also augment its white light with color accents. Saturated color can be delicately added with 100 shades of depth. LiteMat Spectrum also improves post-production workflows. It is the first lighting system to be certified color-space compliant. That means taking the guesswork out of color mixing for digital cinema. Its unique and patent-pending color processing engine also provides wide color gamut desaturation. These new LiteMats will all resemble their predecessors and become interoperable with each other. Pre-production models will be available for testing in Q3 of 2018.

The LiteGear LiteMat Spectrum is still a few months out from availability. The price is still yet to be determined, though it will be “15 to 20 percent more than the LiteMat Plus Product”.
