Manfrotto Introduces Its Very First Follow Focus

There are so many follow focus devices on the market, how do you choose which one is the best for you? If you’re not familiar with any of the major players in the focus assist market, you might want to go with a product from a company that has a stellar reputation for quality and craftsmanship.

That’s why you might want to look at Manfrotto Manual Follow Focus.

Manfrotto’s new follow focus incorporates a mechanism engineered to eliminate backlash and any play between follow focus and lens movement. The MVA511FF also features a doubled-sided drive which will allow the user to rotate the gearbox so that they can pull focus in either direction, depending on the lenses they use.

The follow focus is supplied with a 35mm friction wheel and a 50 tooth drive gear to accommodate lenses with and without gear rings. A marking disc is also included, which can be simply clicked into place when properly aligned on the handwheel, enabling the operator to mark focal reference points. Manfrotto’s follow focus also has a slide switch, allowing the operator to set hard stops.

The follow focus slides onto standard 15mm rods so that it can be paired with rigs such as the Manfrotto Sympla 2.0 and can be mounted on either side of the lens for left- or right-handed use.

The follow focus is supplied with:

• One 50 tooth/0.8 module drive wheel
• One Ø35 mm friction wheel
• Two marking disks (one assembled and another in the box)
• A 3mm Allen Key
• One gear ring

The MVA511FF is available now for $599.99.
