NAB 2015: Wooden Camera Accessories for Blackmagic URSA

With the opening of their brick and mortar storefront not long away, we stopped to talk to Wooden Camera’s Ryan Schoorman about the exciting event, as well as Wooden Camera’s multiple accessories for the Blackmagic URSA.

URSA Bridgeplate Adapter – $105

The URSA Bridgeplate Adapter adapts the Blackmagic URSA Camera to any tripod plate or ARRI standard bridgeplate such as Wooden Camera’s 19mm or 15mm bridgeplates. The Bridgeplate Adapter can also work with ARRI brand items like BP-8 and BP-9 (it may not work with some of the much older models). When studio rods are not needed, a Dovetail Clamp can be added instead to interface with 2060 Dovetails, Safety Dovetails, or Shoulder Rigs.

URSA Side Plate – $140

Side mounting plate for Blackmagic URSA Camera. Attaches over right side LCD control interface to expand mounting surface for accessories. Arrays of 1/4-20 and 3/8-16 holes in standard spacing.

URSA Wireless Side Plate Adapter – $85

Rearward side mounting plate for Blackmagic URSA Camera. Attaches over HD-SDI identification plate to expand mounting surface for accessories and provide attachment points for Universal Wireless Side Plate which is used to attach wireless audio receivers, etc. Array of 1/4-20 and 3/8-16 holes in standard spacing.

Universal Mattebox (Base) – $995, Pre-Order Only, Shipping June 2015

UMB-1 Universal Mattebox (Base) comes standard with two rotating 4×5.65 filter stages (with an optional third stage available), individual tray catchers, folding French flag, 143mm diameter opening, a height adjustable 15mm LW rod bracket which can be adapted to studio rods a universal cloth donut with easy to grab finger loops, and NATO standard accessory rails on left, right, and top for attaching accessories. The UMB-1 is designed to be user upgradable and quick to transition from base, to clamp on, to swing away, to ultralight when using a stabilizer. Upgradable to Swing Away or Clamp On versions when needed.

Blackmagic URSA Accessory Kit (Base) – $330

The Blackmagic URSA Accessory Kit (Base) is a basic camera support package designed for the Blackmagic URSA camera. The BMD URSA accessory package includes: Bridgeplate Adapter (URSA), that adapts the camera to any tripod plate or ARRI standard bridgeplate, and Side Plate (URSA) and Wireless Side Plate Adapter (URSA) which are side plates that expand mounting surface for attaching accessories.

As for Wooden Camera’s soon to open store front, Schoorman stated it was an attempt to reach out to their many Los Angeles area customers who needed product right away. The store will carry all of Wooden Camera’s products, and will be located at 923 West Olive Avenue in Burbank California. It will open in just five days on May 16th.
