Despite the release of a bevvy of new cameras this year, the popularity of the Blackmagic Cinema Camera 2K and 4K remains high. So we spoke to Wooden Camera’s Ryan Schorman about their highly versatile Quick Cage and its many accessories.
Wooden Camera Quick Cage – $699
The Quick Cage (BMC+LW) turns the Blackmagic Cinema Camera into a production-ready tool. It attaches by two screws on top and one locating pin and screw on the bottom making it extremely secure. The sleek and functional design leaves all of the camera’s vital features easily accessible, such as the SSD door, LCD Touch Screen, and input/output ports. The cage frame contours to the body and adds no additional width while putting all the controls at your fingertips. REC button at the right index finger and FOCUS and IRIS at your thumbs.
Quick Cage (BMC+LW) includes a lightweight 15mm support baseplate that can attach to any tripod plate or ARRI standard bridgeplate such as Bridgeplate (19mm) or Bridgeplate (15mm Studio). When studio rods are not needed, a Dovetail Clamp can be added instead to interface with 2060 Dovetails, Safety Dovetails, or Shoulder Rigs.
NATO Lock Magic Arm – $250
NATO Lock Magic Arm (11″) is an articulating arm with NATO standard quick release and clamp on each end, ratcheting center thumbscrew with rosette, and stainless steel ball-joint construction. The rail portion can bolt into a 1/4-20 or 3/8-16 hole using the included screws. Set screw can also be installed to prevent twisting. The rail is also threaded for 1/4-20 and 3/8-16 so accessories can screw into it.
