During our tour of Wooden Camera’s Los Angeles store, we talked with manager Michael Millichamp about a few of their many versatile camera rig kits. One such kit caters to the ever popular RED series, such as the RED Weapon, Scarlet and Raven cameras.
As Millichamp explains, Wooden Camera offers several different RED Weapon/Scarlet/Raven kits based on production need. You can, of course, also purchase the parts independently to craft a custom rig for your needs. Wooden Camera is prepared to help you with either option. As far as pre-made kits are concerned, Wooden Camera offers three distinct ones:
Base Kit – $1,103
The RED Weapon/Raven Camera Accessory Kit (Base) is a basic camera support package designed for the RED Weapon & Raven cameras. The RED Weapon/Raven accessory package includes: Easy Top (Weapon/Raven), a top mounting cheeseplate for accessory attachment with two LCD/EVF interfaces, the bolt on Top Handle (Cheese) for secure camera carrying, the LW 15mm Bracket (Weapon/Raven) that attaches to the Easy Riser (Weapon/Raven) camera shim plate and holds the two 15mm Rods (6″) at the correct lens height.
Advanced Kit – $2,091
The RED Weapon/Raven Camera Accessory Kit (Advanced) is an advanced camera support package designed for the RED Weapon & Raven cameras. The RED Weapon/Raven accessory package includes: Easy Top (Weapon/Raven), a top mounting cheeseplate for accessory attachment with two LCD/EVF interfaces, NATO Handle Kit (Plus, 70mm), a quick release handle that attaches to the top plate, has a rotating top grip, multiple mounting points for accessories, integrated shoe mount, and 15mm and 19mm rod openings, A-Box (Weapon/Raven) for XLR audio inputs, the LW 15mm Bracket (Weapon/Raven) that holds the two 15mm Rods (6″) at the correct lens height, the Easy Riser (Weapon/Raven), a camera riser shim plate that attaches to the Dovetail Clamp, for easy mounting to an ARRI standard dovetail like the included Safety Dovetail (8”), and the Quick Back (Weapon/Raven), a mounting system for battery plates that attaches to camera without tools.
Pro, 19mm Kit – $2,695
The RED Weapon/Raven Camera Accessory Kit (Pro, 19mm) is a professional camera support package designed for the RED Weapon & Raven cameras. The RED Weapon/Raven accessory package includes: Easy Top (Weapon/Raven), a top mounting cheeseplate for accessory attachment with two LCD/EVF interfaces, NATO Handle Kit (Plus, 70mm), a quick release handle that attaches to the top plate, has a rotating top grip, multiple mounting points for accessories, integrated shoe mount, and 15mm and 19mm rod openings, UVF Mount (No Clamp) for holding EVFs & LCDs, A-Box (Weapon/Raven) for XLR audio inputs, Easy Riser (Weapon/Raven), a camera riser shim plate that attaches to the Bridgeplate (19mm), an ARRI style bridge plate with 19mm studio spacing for holding the two 19mm Rods (12″) at the correct lens height and attaches easily to an ARRI standard dovetail like the included Safety Dovetail (12″), and the Quick Back (Weapon/Raven), a mounting system for battery plates that attaches to camera without tools.
