NAB hasn’t started, but you wouldn’t know it as the product announcements are coming like crazy! Case in point…the new Genie Mini from Sryp. Not only is the little guy a stand alone motion device, providing motion for timelapse or real-time video, but it also works in tandem with the original Syrp Genie giving you an extra dimension of movement.
The Genie Mini is around ¼ of the size of the original version and is controlled using the Syrp Genie App available on IOS and Android and connected wirelessly via Bluetooth. The App is designed with graphical movement displays and dials, which are easy to follow. The Genie Mini can also be synced to the original Genie via a cable to create incredible 2-axis control for video and time-lapse a much sought-after feature from current Genie owners.
You can wirelessly connect to the Genie Mini using the Syrp Genie App for quick setup and simple control. Simply attach the Genie Mini to a tripod and shoot smooth panning time-lapse moves using the Syrp Genie App. In video mode the Genie Mini moves at a perfectly smooth continuous speed for accurate panning moves. The Genie Mini is designed to be incredibly simple and is beginner time-lapse friendly.
The Syrp Genie App and updates will include time-lapse image processing on smartphones, the development of a pan tilt bracket to sync two Genie Minis together as well as an online user account platform for sharing presets and time-lapses. The Syrp App is equiped with factory pre-sets so you can start shooting straight out of the box with no technical expertise required. Just connect and shoot. Ben Ryan, co-founder of Syrp had this to say about the new Genie Mini, “The launch of the original Genie has had huge success for professionals all around the world and because of It’s simplicity we had a lot of interest from customers who wanted to create these amazing shots but we’re on a budget”.
The Genie mini enables beautiful HDR time-lapse, giving your footage a stand-out effect by allowing for greater dynamic range in your final video.
Co-founder Chris Tomson says, “The launch of the Genie Mini hits the prosumer and consumer markets but also has a lot of cross-over for professionals by providing them with not only an ultra portable panning controller but a professional add-on product to the current Genie release to create 2-axis motion control.”
The Genie Mini will retail for $249 and is currently on Pre-order. Orders are on a first in first served basis and are estimated to deliver late May.
