Carl Zeiss’ latest Otus lens, the wide angle 1.4/28, is now shipping from retailers worldwide.
Originally announced in October 2015, the ZEISS Otus 1.4/28 is a wide angle lens particularly suited to landscape photography. The Otus 1.4/28 was also crafted with pro photographers in mind, with inner focusing, a dial window and yellow labeling of the dials for easy legibility. It also possesses high image contrast all the way into the edges of the image, even at an open aperture. Its high 1.4 speed allows capture of fast moving objects, even in low light. Combined with its floating elements design, the Otus 1.4/28 produces “unrivalled imaging performance along the entire focusing range, from 0.3 m (11.81”) to infinity.”
The Otus 1.4/28 lens comes in both ZE mount for Canon DSLRs and ZF.2 mount for Nikon cameras. List price is $4,990, but prices may vary depending on different resellers. You can find it at the usual places, such as Band Pro, Samy’s Camera, Alan Gordon, etc.
