On display at photokina this week, Zeiss’ Otus 1.4/85 lens is the powerful new member of the Otus family, and perfect for creative, detail oriented photographers.
The Otus is all about versatility and detail. Studio shots, fashion, advertising, architectural photography…the Otus covers it all and then some while delivering crisp, clean images. Perfect for today’s DSLRs, the Otus 1.4/85 fucntions well in little to no light, making crystal clear nighttime shots a possibility.
The Otus family produces fantastic quality images in high resolution, with “…no color fringing or distortion, and an extremely high image contrast all the way into the edges”. They’re also devoid of “optical artifacts”, providing a “neutral bokeh in the background”. Simply put, the Otus family lenses take your DSLR’s images to another level entirely.
The Otus family line began with the Otus 1.4/55, introducing a new series of lenses that were just as powerful as they were affordable. “When we launched the Otus 1.4/55, our customers immediately understood the benefits they can get from such a lens: using their high-end full-frame camera, they can shoot pictures with a quality and look they were previously only used to getting from expensive medium-format systems,” explains Christophe Casenave, Product Manager, ZEISS Camera Lenses. The new Otus 1.4/85 is Zeiss’ continued effort to craft a powerful lens that lets you forget about any ghosting, distortion, or any other problems you’ve been plagued with while using a lesser lens. As Casenave says, “When you use an Otus lens, you can focus on the composition of your images. You don’t need to spend any time thinking about whether the technology could possibly be a limiting factor.”
The Otus 1.4/85 will be available by the end of September for about $4,490. It is currently on display at this year’s photokina show in Hall 2.2, booth C-018.
