WATCH – CINE GEAR 2017: Blackmagic Design Camera Panel With Vance Burberry, Lukas Colombo & Jody Eldred

Clint Milby brought together three cinematographers at Cine Gear 2017 to talk about their use of the numerous Blackmagic Design cameras on the market, the projects they’ve used them on and more.

These three cinematographers have utilized a number of different Blackmagic’s cameras on a variety of projects. For example, Vance Burberry talked about using the URSA 4.6K alongside an ALEXA and “[loving] the look of the ALEXA”. Only it wasnt the ALEXA he was looking at the image from, but the URSA 4.6K. Lukas Colombo describes a 20 episode documentary series he was able to shoot on the URSA Mini Pro in ProRes. Because of the smooth post transition of the camera, they were able to get an episode on air each week with little hassle. Jody Eldred, a master of his craft, has no shortage of interesting stories of his use with Blackmagic cameras that he shares with the group.

Vance Burberry is a cinematographer with a history in music videos, commercials, television and underwater cinematography. His credits include TNT’s “The Last Ship” and “Boston’s Finest”, television spots for Mustang and New York City and more.

Lukas Colombo is an award winning film director and cinematographer and founder of Moai Films, a production company that has produced numerous projects from commercials and music videos to narrative films and documentaries. He has received over a dozen international and national awards for his narrative work, and his music videos have been viewed millions of times online via MTV, VEVO and VH1.

Jody Eldred is a filmmaker and Emmy-winning Director/cameraman/authorwith a history in news, documentary and television. He received the national Emmy in 2004 for his ABC News project, “The Iraq War: Fox 2/5” (among others) and is a frequent speaker and presenter at NAB, film/TV production seminars, and film schools.
