SmallHD debuted not one, not two, but five new monitors at NAB 2018. We spoke with SmallHD’s Wes Philips about how these new products drastically expand the FOCUS monitor family by adding OLED, SDI, and wireless into the mix.
HDR was definitely one of this year’s NAB buzz words, so we were curious about SmallHD’s new HDR production monitors. Larger than the usual SmallHD product, we spoke to Wes Philips for more on their new HDR line.
SmallHD announced the line of daylight-viewable HDR production monitors in 17-inch, 24-inch and 32-inch sizes. Every monitor housing is milled from billet aluminum and holds a 3mm thick polycarbonate screen protector that is user-replaceable.
Vitec Videocom has announced the opening of a showroom in Los Angeles (called Creative Solutions Los Angeles) to “allow industry professionals hands-on experience with products from Paralinx, SmallHD, and Teradek brands.”

In the rush to add LUTs to a camera top monitor, Small HD has crossed the finish line. Their latest firmware upgrade for their DP7-PRO monitor now offers “…native support for nearly any 3D LUT filetype”.
SmallHD’s new DP7-PRO field monitor takes cues more from modern day tablets than its own previous field monitors, and if all is as it seems in their videos, looks to be an absolutely stunning piece of gear.
