The previously announced LA Post Fest from the Los Angeles Post Production Group (LAPPG) is in full swing, and still taking submissions. The editing contest provides editors and filmmakers pre-recorded footage to edit together to create their own story. They’re looking for five winners – do you have the skills?
The benefits of winning one of the five categories (Best Film, Best Editing, Best Use of Sound and Music, Best Visual Effects, and Best Use of Digital Assets) are numerous. Not will your cut be screened at a special festival in May 2016, but you’ll also reap several other benefits:
- You can have a finished film showcasing your work by Feb. 7th of this year! It can be a calling card that you can use to get work and you don’t need to leave your editing room!
- You can test and explore your own skills and spread your creative wings!
- You can have your work seen by a panel of amazing Hollywood based industry judges including Writer, Director and Sundance Co-Founder Cirina Catania, Juan Ignacio Cabrera who did the stereoscoptic work on “Star Wars: The Force Awakens”, “Modern Family” editor, Tony Orcena, Steven Saltzman, music editor on “The Revenant”, Emmy Award winning editor Jay Miracle and USC Film School Professor Norman Hollyn.
- Winning films will receive one of the 5 prize packages totally approximately $25,000, and winners will have their version mastered and mixed in surround and it will screen at the festival event in LA in May 2016.
The entry is affordable, with the current fee of $55 rising to $70 on February 1st through to the cutoff of February 7th. Students get the best deal, with just a $35 entry fee with valid student ID.
