Now that the HDSLRShooter offices are in Burbank, California, we’ve been able to take advantage of some of the great events that are exclusive to Southern California.
One of the first we attended back in June was an open house event hosted by TV Pro Gear. TV Pro Gear has offices in Glendale, California, and their facility houses a complete IPTV studio with green screen, virtual sets, editing rooms and computer graphics. There they also engineer and build the Flypack, which was developed by CEO Andy Maisner.
In this interview, Maisner takes us through the company’s history including the development of the very first Flypack back in 1978. Essentially, the Flypack is multi-camera mobile production system. They are built into a shock-mounted box to withstand the rigors of the road. They are typically custom built to the specifications of the customer, but they generally contain six to ten camera, a New Tek switcher, Chyron, Black Magic recording deck, six channels of instant replay/slow-motion and a multi-channel intercom with IFB for cuing talent.
Beyond building the Flypacks, they also rent mobile stations as well. To find out more about TV Pro Gear and the Flypacks, go to their website at tvprogear.com
