ZEISS Lightweight Zoom LWZ.3 21-100mm Reviewed At Band Pro

Launched at IBC 2016, we wanted to learn more about Zeiss’ exciting new Lightweight Zoom LWZ.3 21-100mm. We had the chance to do so at Band Pro, where Zeiss’ Snehal Patel gave a presentation (with guest Christian Sebaldt, ASC) on Zeiss lenses, workflow and more.

Mount changeable and ultra light weight, the LWZ.3 is a highly versatile lens suited for multiple projects. It was this fact that led to such glowing remarks from Christian Sebaldt, ASC, who has used the Zeiss Zooms on numerous projects. Snehal Patel expanded on this in our interview, noting that other shooters have loved the LWZ.3’s versatility: “You can do a whole shoot completely without changing lenses at all… Bill Bennet [ASC] did a shoot, and he shot with this lens and he shot a commercial style, one minute piece that we’re using for our reel called “The Recipe” and every single shot on there is with this lens.”

The Zeiss Lightweight Zoom LWZ.3 21-100mm will be available January 2017 for less than $10,000, though due to the nature of pre-orders, you should order as soon as possible to get it closer to the mid-January release.
